Well we had another great and successful week, the Lord really blessed us!
We have about 10 investigators but 3 are really solid at the moment, preparing for baptism in early December. "D" is our sweet 11 year old. He is so cute to teach. We watched the restoration video with him and it really helped his understanding. Every week when he comes to church he gets so excited to go to primary and see all of his friends, its awesome. And this week it has been just so neat to hear "B" bear his testimony to his son everyday on the principles we are teaching. I'm telling you, he is going to be a spiritual giant.
Then there's "C", she's our 16 year old that has already been researching the church so she pretty much knows everything already. The other day we go to teach her The Plan of Salvation and she goes "hmm I think I know this, is this where we lived with God before, then come to earth life, the fall, death, spirit world (where we wait to prepare for resurrection and judgment and then divided into kingdoms of Glory?" We brought the laurel adviser for her class and she just had her mouth drop open. We are like 'uh...YEAH". She is just awesome, and so faithful and cute and adorable and we LOVE teaching her.
Then there is "R", her husband is less active, she is a nonmember and we have been working with them both to bring them to church. She has cancer but is so hardworking and faithful. She is so humble, and her husband is just so kind. They are both completely without guile.
So we are really excited for their baptisms coming up in a few weeks. They all came to Stake Conference this weekend and enjoyed it. And the talks were just perfect being on conversion, gospel blessing families, and blessings from keeping the commandments.
Oh and we had an awesome miracle this week. (Now this week in zone meeting we learned about really trying to make lessons count). After a lesson with "D" our dinner texted us and said she was running about a half hour late. So we looked on our backups for what we had planned then, and it was a part-member family. We get into their home, start with a prayer, teach and end with a prayer, instead of just a quick door lesson (although sometimes those are effective and all we can do). So we role played, asking to come in the home and share a quick 7 minute message. So we go up to their door, he answers and initially isn't that interested, but we did just as we role played and asked to come in and share a quick 7 minute message, and he said yes! So we were able to go in, have a prayer, share the Restoration with them, and set up a return appointment! They are a super sweet family of 5, the mom is a member but hasn't gone since she was a kid, and the dad and two sons that are old enough are investigators now. It was such a miracle! So because of that we were able to hit standards, once again, the third week in a row! The Lord is really showering out blessings upon this area. This totally increased my testimony of actaully using the planner and backups because sometimes we're like okay who lives around here we can visit before dinner, and then it also increased my testimony of revelation for zone meeting, because if we hadn't have learned that we wouldn't have gotten in the door!
Also on a very sad note, but also kind of a miracle. The "N" family in the ward who have been taking "H" to teach every single Sunday for a year. We called them Saturday to see if they were going to stake conference this weekend. They said they weren't sure if they were going to go and to find him another ride just in case. So "H" went to stake conference with someone else and really enjoyed it. Later that night we got a phone call that the "N" family had gotten in a wreck on the way to stake conference and Sister N. didn't make it, and Brother N. was in critical condition... it was very sad. We went and saw Brother N. and said a quick prayer with him. Its crazy though, because if "H" had been in that car, there is no way he would have made it... prayers for all.
On a happier note, we did a service project this weekend and chopped wood for our investigator, "R". They heat their whole house by a tiny wood stove, and because of all her health problems, they didn't start chopping wood until just about a month ago, and they usually start in May, so they are really behind. So we chopped a bunch and are going to surprise them with it! We were very very sore... lol
It was an AMAZING week though!
